The Queen of Hearts Foundation raised over $65,000 on Saturday evening, March 19th, 2011 at the Crevier Classic Car Showroom in Costa Mesa in the Foundation’s great pursuit to fund research projects directly focused on factors thought to be associated with the early detection of ovarian cancer. There is no other foundation in Orange County which raises money exclusively for the early detection of ovarian cancer.
The Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Celebration of the first Queen of Hearts Foundation Ovarian Cancer Research Laboratory took place on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Robert R. Sprague Foundation Hall, UC Irvine Campus. This laboratory is part of the new Robert R. and Margaret L. Sprague Women’s Cancer Research Center. The opening of the Robert. R. and Margaret L. Sprague Women’s Cancer Research Center embodies UC Irvine’s steadfast commitment to defeating the scourge of cancer. This is a milestone event for the Queen of Hearts Foundation, as it marks 10 years of dedicated fundraising.
Our 10 Year Celebration was held at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach on Friday, March 26th, 2010. Following the luncheon and fashion show by models from boutique owner, Michael Nusskern, we heard: A DISCUSSION by Dr. Leslie Randall, Gynecologic Oncologist from the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, UC Irvine; A PRESENTATION from Dr. Meagan Moore & Elizabeth Courtney, ovarian cancer survivor; And FEATURING Drs. Stephanie McClellan and Beth Hamilton Newport Beach OB/GYNs and co-authors of the book, “So Stressed…” with book signing.
The Love Boat Gala was held at Newport Harbor Yacht Club on May 16, 2009. Over 250 guests enjoyed a live/silent auction, casino night and dancing to help raise funds for ovarian cancer research. Highlights included a speech by ovarian cancer survivor Elizabeth Courtney and her surgeon, Dr. Krish Tewari.
