MISSION STATEMENT

The Queen of Hearts Foundation is a not-for-profit organization devoted to raising funds for the research and early detection of ovarian cancer and in promoting public awareness and education.

ORGANIZATION OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Queen of Hearts Foundation is to support a current research project directly focused on factors thought to be associated with the early detection of Ovarian Cancer. Dr. Wendy Brewster, MD, PhD manages the project we are currently funding. She is conducting pioneering research in epidemiology, which may lead to a better understanding of risk factors and prevention of Ovarian Cancer. Her research work focuses on the identification of women who are susceptible to ovarian cancer by virtue of having particular genetic, environmental or reproductive characteristics and the development of targeted screening methods. She directs screening of women at high risk for ovarian cancer in Orange County and San Diego counties as part of a national screening study and plans to develop a regional ovarian cancer-screening program.

Our 2010 financial objective is to raise $100,000.
